Engels archaeoloog (Clapton 16 Mrt 1862 - 27 Nov. 1939), studeerde te Cambridge. Hij was achtereenvolgens universitair docent te Cambridge (1885-1889) en directeur van de British School of Archaeology te Athene (1887-1895).
