Amerikaans psycholoog (Greenville, Carolina, 9 Jan. 1878), promoveerde te Chicago in 1903 en was van 19081920 hoogleraar in de experimentele en vergelijkende psychologie, tevens directeur van het psychologisch laboratorium aan de Johns Hopkins Universiteit te Baltimore. Hij is de vertegenwoordiger van het extreme behaviorisme.
