Jr, Amerikaans oriëntalist en assyrioloog (Warschau 13 Aug. 1861 - Philadelphia 22 Juni 1921), emigreerde in 1866 naar Pennsylvanië. Hij was van 1892 af hoogleraar aan de Universiteit te Philadelphia, van betekenis vooral op godsdiensthistorisch terrein.
