Villas in Huizen

betekenis & definitie

The 'De Stukken' villa park, located on the west side of Huizen on the border with Naarden, was developed from 1905 by NV Maatschappij 'De Stukken' with J.P. van Rossum as director.

The white plastered, L-shaped villa De Limiten (Naarderstraat 282) became in 1905 for mrs. A. van Woensel Kooy-Mijnssen built according to Th. Rueter. The older villas also include De Valkenhorst (Stukkenlaan 1, 1906, GT Lindeyer, converted in 1921), the villa Stukkenlaan 7 (1908, F. Kuipers) with a portico on wooden columns and a tower-like extension, and the in New-Historizing style. executed villa Huizer-End (Flevolaan 3, 1908, Th.Rueter). The white painted large villa Bikbergerweg 11 (1914, T. Nieuwenhuis) was created for F. Kranenberg. Architect K.P.C. De Bazel also designed some buildings here, such as the gardener's house 't Beukenootje (Valkeveenselaan 38, 1902) and the villa De Valk (Valkeveenselaan 26, 1916).

Similarly, the J.A. Roodenburgh designed villa 't Boschhuis (Stukkenlaan 9, 1918). The country house style is recognizable at De Maerle (Oud Bussummerweg 44; 1906), a design by De Bazel for painter G.W. van Blaaderen (garden design 1906, D.F. Tersteeg). D.L. van Alphen left this villa in 1917 by J.W. Hanrath renew and supplement with a garage with two service houses (Oud Bussummerweg 40-42).

Villas were also established along the other roads of Huizen, such as the villa Vogelenzang (Naarderstraat 314; 1910, J.W. Hanrath). Furthermore, the Oldenheim villa (Naarderstraat 322; 1914, J.W.H. Leliman), built in New Historizing style, was built for P.C. André de la Porte jr., And the double villa Naarderstraat 294-296 (1916, Th.Rueter) for S.A.C. Dudok van Heel. Many villas were designed in expressionist style. An example north of the village center is' t Oude Nest (Botterstraat 1, circa 1925). J. Rebel made designs in this style with thatched roofs and partial wooden coverings, such as for the villa Pastorale (Nieuwe Bussummerweg 141; 1917), the transverse houses Naarderstraat 266 and 270 (both 1922) and the house Nieuwe Bussummerweg 163 (1926) .

Together with J.P. He was responsible for the plans of the villa park 'Bikbergen', and for the two villas and ten double houses Bikbergerweg 52-56 and 13-29 (1926-30). Other expressionist villas are The House in the Sun (Naarderstraat 301; 1926, H.C. Elzinga) and the J.C.J. de Graaff designed by C. de Graaff built double villa Naarderstraat 252-254 (1926). The latter is striking due to segment-shaped storey windows between two tall chimneys. A high thatched roof with strip windows has the summer house Eikenlaantje 8 (1927, F. A. Wijsma). Of the 'Huizerhoogt' villa park designed by H. Elte for the Blaricum-Bussum building office, only thirteen dwellings were realized in 1922, including the high-cone thatched roofs Blaricumm erstraat 140-144 and Huizerweg 44-48 (Blaricum municipality).

A number of villas were built in log cabin construction, partly manufactured by specialized firms. The Norwegian Strömmen Traevarefabrik built for A. Dudok van Heel the villa De Viersprong (Flevolaan 2, 1912) and for J.C. Huygens de Villa Strommen (Amersfoortsestraatweg 192, 1924). Jhr. WC. Quarles van Ufford had the Villa Blokhuis (Naarderstraat 311; 1921, with garage) built, of which the original interior has largely been retained. The company Christoph & amp; Unmack from Niesky (D) supplied the woodwork for this villa and for the commission of G.A. Servatius built wooden villa Stukkenlaan 6 (1922). Villa Vingolf (Stukkenlaan 4; 1920) was built according to plans by L. Klerkx, Naarderstraat 298 by A. de Boer (1921) and Stukkenlaan 10 (1909) by B. Jurriëns.
