The Herv church in Oostzaan

betekenis & definitie

(Kerkbuurt 12) is a cross church with a straight closed choir and a wooden gable tower with a spire. This church with round arch windows and ornaments in Louis XV style replaced in 1760 a late medieval church destroyed in 1573. During the restoration in 1938-'39 (J. de Meijer) a consistory room was added and recently the church received a modern extension.

The interior is covered by wooden barrel vaults with draw beams. The floor is covered with churches from the old church. The construction time inventory includes a pulpit and Louis XV style pulpit, as well as men's benches, a tour portal and two ship models. The organ was built by H. Knipscheer (1858).
