Engels apotheker (Alston, Hampshire, 11 Jan. 1746 - Brompton 7 Juli 1799), richtte in 1771 een eigen tuin in en gaf zijn eerste publicatie in het licht (Instructions for collecting and preserving Insects, particularly Moths and Butterflies, met B. Th.
White). In 1772 werd hij Demonstrator in de botanische tuin te Chelsea. In 1787 gaf hij het eerste nummer uit van het Botanical Magazine, thans nog bestaande als Curtis’s Bot. Mag.Bibl.: Flora Londinensis, 6 fase., 1777-’87, herdr. in 3 dln met 2 vervolgdln v. G. Gravesen W. J.
