The form. post office with director's house Nieuwstraat 44-48 was established in neo-Renaissance style in 1887. In 1910 the police station was established here after the construction of the larger post office with director's house Oudegracht 63-65. That building with neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic elements was probably designed by Chief Government Architect C.H. Peters.
