Twisk (municipality of Noorder-Koggenland)
Village, originated in the 11th century as peat reclamation on the creek that runs from Abbekerk to Medemblik. The village was first mentioned in 1311 and received in 1414 as part of the 'Stede Abbekerk' (Abbekerk, Twisk, Midwoud and Lambertschaag) - purely administrative - city rights.
