Eric, Schots schrijver, *8.3.1899 Dounby (Orkneys), ♱6.11.1974 Aberdeen. Linklater maakte lange reizen, o.a. naar de VS, waarover hij de sprankelende satirische roman Juan in America schreef, die hem met een klap beroemd maakte.
Ook zijn andere werken vertonen een weldadige humor, waardoor zijn kritiek niet in bitterheid ontaardt.
