Westzaan (municipality of Zaanstad)

betekenis & definitie

Village, originated in the 12th century as peat reclamation. The elongated two-sided ribbon development of Westzaan can be subdivided into five neighborhoods. The northern part of the staggered mining axis is the Middel- or Noordeinde. The jump itself is formed by the Weiver and to its south are the Kerkbuurt, the buildings along the J.J. Allanstraat and finally the Zuideinde. The village center at the Kerkbuurt was extended both around 1920 and after the Second World War. Westzaan is a protected village.
