Westeramstel in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel

betekenis & definitie

(Amsteldijk-Noord 55, municipality of Amstelveen). This deep, white plastered country house northwest of Ouderkerk was built in 1720 for Andries Leenders. The basement room in the porch betrays that an older farm was used.

The table facade with vases and bell-wall-shaped central part dating from the construction period is provided with Louis XIV forms. In 1792 Antonius Quirinus van Persijn took possession of the house and he added the current entrance. In the 19th century the house came into use as an inn. During a restoration in 1989, the lower wooden back house (coach house) was reconstructed. The rich entry gate with limestone posts in Louis XV style dates back to 1760. The garden turret got its current form around 1910.
