Studio apartments in Laren

betekenis & definitie

The oldest studio apartments in Laren have a farmhouse-like character and large windows on the north, such as Ooghout 16 (1905, Th.Rueter) of mrs. H. Willink and the studio house De Olmenhoeve (Naarderstraat 62, circa 1905) designed by F. Hart Nibbrig himself.

The painter and writer Wally Moes lived in Klein Lindenhof (Oude Naarderweg 8, 1903, J. Banis), a wooden house in country house style. The for the ladies C.A. van de Willigen and C. van Pesch built double studio house Oude Kerkweg 10-12 (1906, Th.Rueter) has the form of a transverse building with the studios in the projecting transverse components. Characteristic are also Pruikenburg (Wally Moesweg 1, circa 1906, H.A. Pothoven) by painter S.C. Bosch Reitz and De Lingenskamp (Lingenskamp 34; 1911, C. de Groot). H.C. Elzinga designed the studio apartments Beukenrode (Torenlaan 57; 1913) and Velthuysenlaan 17 (1918). The latter was taken into use in 1948 by the Ned. Protestants Bond, where a consistory room is built (H.F. Sijmons). The Engweg 2 house was designed in 1911 by A.J. Kropholler for sculptor J. Mendes da Costa and expanded in 1916 with a second studio.

In 1917, architect J. Rebel designed his own house Velthuysenlaan 16 in a country house style, with a studio in the annexe. The expressionist building Jagersweg 13 (1920, A.J. Boland) was established by order of jkv. E.M.A. the Young. This 'International Painter's Studio' originally contained eight studios for needy artists, including W. van Nieuwenhoven jr. And W. Mignot.
