Schaep and Burgh in 's-Graveland

betekenis & definitie

(Noorderinde 58-60). This country estate was founded in the 17th century by Abel Burgh and left to his cousin Gerard Schaep. In about 1820 there was a radical renovation of the two-storey house with basement according to a design by J. van Straaten. The plastered neoclassical building has a protruding middle party with open ionic porch porch and a crowning roofer with fronton. At the rear is a developed cupola room. On both sides of the forecourt there are two building houses (formerly coach house, orangery).

The park was built in 1818 for J.W. van Loon changed in landscape style by J.D. Zocher jr. And then embellished with a neoclassical garden house with ionic temple front (burnt down 2002, rebuilt 2005). Two snake walls remain of an older construction (circa 1730). The ice cellar has a stone dome and a portal (circa 1820, restored in 1984).
