The Amsterdam Canal Company had the 12th-century serviced apartments Sluisplein (1875, painted white after 1945) and the detached Sluisplein 24 (1876).

On behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, the Sluiseiland 54-60 and 66-69 service houses were established at the Middensluis in 1896 with simple neo-Renaissance details. In 1908-'09 and 1917 a few apartment blocks followed. Also from Rijkswaterstaat are the in 1905-'06 at the lighthouse built service houses Seinpostweg 24-30 and 25-33. Examples of larger houses are the timber-framed villas Kanaalstraat 240-246 (circa 1905), the townhouse Kon., Designed with Art Nouveau details.

Wilhelminakade 169 (circa 1905), and the villas Beau Soleil (Kon. Wilhelminakade 219; 1911, P. Heere) and Kon. Wilhelminakade 217 (1913, J.C. Dunnebier).
