The fish smokehouses in the village usually consisted of three or four parallel halls with small smoking rooms with chimneys in the middle hall. The form. fish smokehouse Havenstraat 81 of the Regtdoorzee family dates back to 1859. After closure of the smokehouse in 1927, the building was in use at various art pottery factories until 1984. In 1987-'89 it was converted into a restaurant and exhibition space (veranda added). The fish shop Taandersstraat 25 was built in 1906 by order of P. Boor. The fish smokehouse Valkenaarstraat 25 from Gebr. H. and J. Bout were rebuilt after fire in 1943-'44.
