Farms in Middenbeemster

betekenis & definitie

The farms in the Beemster, as a rule farmhouses, are mostly built in brick or brick and wood. Some farms have been built entirely in wood. The richest example is De Eenhoorn farm (Middenweg 196), of which the partly basement brick living area has a higher centered part with a classic neck. This is crowned by a segmented pediment with the image of a unicorn; a cartouche mentions as year of construction 1682. In the milk cellar there is a tiled mantelpiece.

At the farm Lepelaar (Middenweg 194) the middle part of the brick living area has a shoulder gable with vases and crowning fronton. Facing stones show a spoonbill and the year 1683. The upstairs room contains a tiled wall and paintings painted on the woodwork of cherubs and plowing farmers. In the 17th century, the 'Tijdverdrijf' farm (Middenweg 50) at Noordbeemster is also located with thruster doors at the front. The façade plastered in the 19th century is dated in the top 1667.

From the 18th century, the bricks stolphoeve Broedersbouw (Oostdijk 13) with a double hay box and dredging doors at the front. The façade has a higher middle part with a bell façade, provided with a brick with the farm name and the year 1742. The interior of the construction period is well preserved with, among other things, a double tile chimney. In 1780 (cartouche) the brick stolphoeve Poortugal (Westdijk 6) was created with an extended business area. The upper middle part at the front has a gable with fronton crowning. Covered with reeds is the 18th century wooden stolphoeve Middenweg 105.

In the 19th century, a stately mansion was built as a residential part of some farms, such as around 1875 the eclectic mansion at the Volgerwijck farm (Volgerweg 36). This is named after a 17th-century country estate, of which only the brick arch bridge with blocked masonry stanchions remains. The farm Volgerweg 41 has a mansion from about 1860, the farm Mariënheuvel (Volgerweg 79) a white plastered eclectic mansion from about 1875.

Most of the 19th-century farms are collapsible farms with a developed cowshed and a straight cornice at the front, whether or not crowned by a (wooden) top façade. Many farms built after 1870 have a (protruding) higher middle party. The Middenweg 112 (circa 1820), which was built with corner flats, recently received a wooden spout. To the left is a brick building with a spout, possibly a parents' room. Farmhouses with a wooden façade are furthermore Volgerweg 27, Kerkzigt (Jisperweg 109) with extended living area and Jisperweg 133 with kinked hipped roof. The De Meerwaarde farm (Middenweg 189, restored 1984), built in 1859, has a brick façade with corner lentils and a wooden bell gable with fronton. A brick bell-gable has the farms Middenweg 190 and Rijperweg 40. The latter farmhouse is partly plastered, has doors in the front facade and a transversely extended cowshed.

The originally 17th-century farmhouse Vredenrust (Volgerweg 42) has a 19th-century sober neoclassical façade with a fronton-crowned middle party, a framed entrance and a windvane with a whaler's statue on the chimney. Inside is a 17th-century sculpted round arch porch under an oval window, whose carved frame is decorated with angels. There is also a painted ceiling and remnants of a 19th-century decorative painting. A sober neoclassical façade also includes the farms Rijperweg 32 (1863), Zonnehoek (Middenweg 2, 1869) and Volgerweg 26 (with a pilaster route). The originally 17th-century farm Zaandam (Middenweg 107) also has a 19th-century neoclassical façade. The farm Hoogerlust (Jisperweg 103) is equipped with a higher middle party with fronton, balcony and porch porch. From an older building on site, the 18th-century entrance gate with checkered brick fence pillars was preserved, as well as two facing bricks (with image paper mill and with the year 1774). De Kleine Bijenkorf farm (Middenweg 193) has a gable top with carved windings.

Characteristic examples of farms with an eclectically detailed façade are Beemster Wapen (Middenweg 44; 1884), Jisperweg 130, Arbeid Adelt (Volgerweg 30) and Hovenberg (Jisperweg 19, 1889), all with (garden) doors in the middle part. An eclectic façade also has the Vredeveld farm (Volgerweg 59) with a broad middle party. The Cornelishoeve (Middenweg 33, circa 1880) is equipped with ornamental masonry and ornamental carpets at the top façade and the adjacent wagon shed. Examples of farmhouses with neo-Renaissance details from around 1890 are Bouwlust (Jisperweg 110), Rijperweg 16, Oostdijk 11 and Mariahoeve (Middenweg 95); the last
