The Isr built in 1677. cemetery (at Niesenoortsburgwal 38) [20] was used until 1942. Of the remaining tombstones, the oldest dates from 1865. The Alg. cemetery (Kloosterstraat approx.) [21] was built around 1830 behind the Herv. church, on the spot of the demolished Mariëngaarde monastery. The R.K. cemetery (Broekervaart approx.), founded in 1884, has been out of use since 1982.
