Boundary poles in Laren

betekenis & definitie

The border between the province of North Holland and Utrecht was definitively established in 1536.

In 1719 this border was slightly revised and in the municipalities of Laren and Hilversum marked with twenty-three numbered high stone boundary posts with the weapons of Utrecht and the forem. county of Holland. Of these, eight remain, of which five in Laren and three in Hilversum. Eleven poles were replaced in 1907 by new specimens with the coat of arms of Noord-Holland (design A.W.M. Odé, elaboration H.J. Etienne).
