The foremost synagogue in Monnickendam
(Nieuwe Steeg approx.) [7] is a block-shaped building with flat roof, the facades of which are decorated with natural stone layers and stretches. This synagogue was built in 1894 (5654) behind the house Havenstraat 1 after plans by E.M. Red, at the site of a synagogue founded in 1818. The building has kept its function until 1932.
