The foremost synagogue in Medemblik
(Gedempt Achterom 43) dates from 1808 and has a façade with pointed arch windows and a neoclassical entrance. The building served as a synagogue until 1926. In a restoration in 1980-'82 it has regained the framed entrance. The door to the left of the façade leads to the women's gallery.
