Orr - (James), 1844—1915, hoogl. aan het Glasgow-college van de Schotsche United Free Church; door zijn apologieën maakte hij de Duitsche kritiek onder de Engelsch sprekenden bekend. The supernatural in Christianüy (1894); The Rischlian theology and the evangelical faith (1897); Neglected factors in the study of early progress of Christianity (1899); The virgin birth of Christ; The resurrection of Christ (1908); The early church, its history and literature (1913). Hij was de eind-redacteur van een groote encyclopedie, welke juist na zijn dood verscheen: International bible encyclopedia (1915).
