The R.K. St.-Jacobus de Meerderekerk in Tuitjenhorn

betekenis & definitie

(Dorpsstraat 41) is a basilica cross church with three-sided closed choir and a built-in tower with needle spire. In 1857-59 a one-aisled neo-Gothic church arose after design by Th. Molkenboer, in which a tower from 1810 was built. In 1925 the ship was given low side aisles after plans by C. Estourgie. The church, which was restored in 1978, contains a richly carved main altar, pulpit, crossroads and a communion bank (all circa 1860) and a Ypma organ (1875). The substantial presbytery (Dorpsstraat 39, 1859) was also designed by Molkenboer.
