The R.K. St.-Cornelius Church in Limmen

betekenis & definitie

(Dusseldorperweg 76) is a three-aisled basilic cross church with a round closed choir between side chapels. The aside tower has four sections, frontals and a constricted striker. This 1901-'02 to design by J.H. van Groenendael and under the leadership of P. Snel built neo-Romanesque church replaced a church from 1856. The neo-Gothic pulpit comes from the old church. The altars and the stations of the cross are from the construction period. The Van Rooyen brothers manufactured the stained glass windows. The Ypma organ dates from 1882.

In the cemetery, founded in 1845, there is a statue with Christ statue for Pastor L. Scholte († 1894) and at the entrance there are statues of the apostles Peter and Paul. Around 1930 the parish house 'St. Maarten '(Dusseldorperweg 103, restored in 1996).
