'Huize van Strijen' (Grote Sloot 252), located southwest of Schagerbrug, was founded around 1730 when the widow Van Strijen donated a farm dating from 1628 to the polder administration to serve as an orphanage. After a farm fire in 1895, the current two-storey building with neo-Renaissance elements was built in 1896 -97 to plans by K. Bakker. The fence posts with putti and coats of arms are mid-18th century.
