The Noorderpolder house in Stompetoren

betekenis & definitie

(Molendijk 11) is located on the Schermerringvaart to the east of Stompetoren. The low wooden part with richly cut entrance part (polycarbonate overhead light) was probably built shortly after the Schermer was drained (1635).

In 1752 followed the construction of the higher brick meeting room, equipped with gables with wooden front. In the wooden roof rider hangs a clock (1681) cast by Mamees Frémy. The interior contains an 18th century marble mantelpiece in Louis XV style. In 1951-'53 the polder house was restored under the leadership of Y. Kok. On the terrain that is accessible via a brick arch bridge, there is also a carpentry frame for the maintenance of the polder mills (the Noorderwerf). This elongated wooden barn was almost completely renovated in 1968 and 1994.
