The Mill Museum in Koog aan de Zaan

betekenis & definitie

(Museumlaan 18) is housed in the 'Huis met de IJzeren Brug', built around 1775 for Cornelis Haremaker. Because of the construction of the Koogerpark this house had to be demolished in 1926, after which it was rebuilt in 1927 at the current location and in 1929 as a mill museum was put into use.

The transverse single-level building has a central part with a richly framed central window and a wooden façade in Louis XVI forms (with Louis XV elements). The two entrance zones with ionic pilasters are executed in Louis XV forms. On the side of the Museumlaan is a transverse wooden rear building. In 1982, the museum expanded with the merchant's house Eastside 109 from Zaandam, a deep building with a wooden gable facade.
