The (Herv.) Thamerkerk in Uithoorn

betekenis & definitie

(Amsteldijk Noord 1) is a hall church, closed on three sides, with doric entrance. In the openworked domed turret (renewed 1974) hangs a clock (1659) cast by François Hemony. This church was built in 1935 after a design by L. van Heusden and replaced a church from 1662. The organ built by H. Knipscheer (1836) has a cabinet with statues by C.L.L.W. van IJsendijk and S. Willeumier.

In the cemetery are the buried tomb of J. de Jong († 1838) and a stele for Dr. J.C.P. Eeftinck († 1906). The form. presbytery (Amsteldijk Noord 32) is a neoclassical two-storey building from 1882 with plastered corner pillars and middle ressault. After a design with expressionist details of church governor D. Verwoerd came in 1932 the Chr. primary school 'De Morgenster' (De Visserlaan 2-6) as a three-tiered school annex community building with teachers 'and lessors' homes.
