The former polder house in Middenbeemster

betekenis & definitie

(Noorddijk 23), located north of Middenbeemster, is a 19th-century white plastered, sober neoclassical building. From the roof terrace on the flattened roof, one had a view of the polder mills (disappeared circa 1890). A cast iron stairway (circa 1880) against the dike leads to the polder house. There is also a service residence with workshop (Noorddijk 22) and a wooden carpentry (Noorddijk 21). The latter served as a repair shop for the polder mills, parts of which have been incorporated into the wood frame and the floors.
