The former court house in Westzaan

betekenis & definitie

(Kerkbuurt 35) was established in 1781-83 for the Banne Westzaan and served as a town hall from 1816 to 1974. This block-shaped building designed by Johan Samuel Creutz with rounded facade angles is executed in Louis XVI style. It has a flattened roof with a dome tower at the front and a porch with ionic columns and sculpted pediment. The secretarie (formerly the orphanage) contains a mantelpiece in Louis XV and XVI forms.
