The former council house in Velsen

betekenis & definitie

(Torenstraat 5-7) was built around 1640 as a court and later rebuilt several times. From 1907, the current façade dates back to rich neo-Renaissance style with protruding entrance and balcony. On the east side, a wing in the same style was added in 1926. Nearby is the voorm. cachot (Middendorpstraat 8), a small brick building from 1926.
