After the removal of the orphanage in 1919, plans of W.G. followed in 1923-'25. Steinmetz the renovation to retirement home (Huize Levensavond). At the location of the now disappeared New Orphanage (at Bagijnhof 48) an entrance gate was placed with the text 'Orphanage' in the wrought iron arch.
