The foremost community house of Rhineland in Spaarndam

betekenis & definitie

(Spaarndammerdijk 23) is a block-shaped classicist building with a tent roof, flanked by elongated, lower side wings. The façades are mostly closed on the dyke side; the access is on the court side. In 1641 this 'carpentry house' was built by bricklayer Jan Claesz and stonemason Frederick Caspers, possibly based on plans by Pieter Post. The actual communal house from 1627 on the court side was demolished in 1728.
