Residential homes in Schagen

betekenis & definitie

The deep house Markt 3 has a stepped gable containing cartouches with the year 1692 and a morenkop (wall around 1925). Also late-17th century is the later stuccoed stepped gable by Loet 11.

The 17th century deep houses Loet 22-24, decorated with ornamental masonry and natural stone details, were later stripped of their gable. A sober spout in yellow stone with red braiding has the 18th-century deep house Gedempte Gracht 23. The building Markt 2 has an elevated façade in Louis XVI style with carved cornice and pediment (circa 1780).

Examples of eclectic middle-class houses with high middle ressults are Villages 4 (circa 1870) and Oosterstraat 15-17 (1875). The doctor's house Laan 25 (1872) exhibits romantic-classicist details. The mansion Hoep 28 (circa 1875), neoclassical in shape, received an extended entrance area. J.R. Vlaming designed the villas Laan 23 (1907) and Landbouwstraat 10-12 (1913) with corner towers and Art Nouveau details.

Business-expressionist details have the C. Bokstraat 23-45 (circa 1925) and Laurestraat 1-31 housing complex (circa 1930).
