This hamlet southwest of Westzaan originated at the lock of the Nauernasche Vaart in the IJ (later Zijkanaal D). Die Schermersluis (Overtoom approx.) Is a shack lock that was renovated in 1800 from 1632 with a drainage diver from 1651 (restored 1940). The form. Public primary school with teachers' home (Nauerna 30) was built in 1869 according to a design by F.J. Krieger as two white plastered buildings with carved wind springs. The form. pumping station 'De Landbouw' (Nauerna 13) was established in 1877 for the drainage of the Zuiderpolder to Zijkanaal D of the North Sea Canal.
