At the Seinpostweg there is a stone memorial needle with a bronze plaque (1923, design S. de Clercq) in honor of J. Dirks, who was responsible for the construction of the North Sea Canal. The Fishermen's Memorial in Breda (Sluisplein approx. 1953-'55, design by H.M. Wezelaar) shows a fisherman dressed in oilskin with storm lantern, in memory of the fishermen killed at sea.
