Larenberg in Laren

betekenis & definitie

(Naarderstraat 82). This white plastered neoclassical house was built in 1834 for jr. C. Bakker, possibly after design by J.D. Zocher. The two-storey house with mezzanine was radically changed around 1875 by adding a middle ressault with semi-circular balcony on the southeast side. Furthermore, the entrance frame with corinthian half-columns was moved to the north-west façade and the windows and the interior were renewed.

There is a forem at the house. stable with top façade decoration in chalet style, a voorm. coach house, a tea house, a heated greenhouse and a vegetable garden wall. The service residence Naarderstraat 80 is a neo-Renaissance building with stepped gables. The surrounding park in landscape style was built around 1835. Larenberg was originally a 'firm ornée', in view of the combination of an outhouse with agricultural land and the presence of a now almost unrecognizable converted Swiss farm (Paviljoensweg 16).
