Farms in Spaarndam

In the Houtrakpolder, which was formed by the reclamation of the IJ (1865-'73) northeast of Spaarndam, there are a number of interesting farms, such as the bell-ring farms Ringweg 8-10 (circa 1880), with plastered pilasters, and the Johanna Hoeve (Noorderweg 18; ) with protruding middle section. Characteristic are also some large detached agricultural barns, such as those at Nieuw Maurick farm (Noorderweg 17, circa 1920) and at the Roons Hoeve (Noordzeekanaalweg 3) from 1929.
