From 1942, as part of the Festung IJmuiden in the middle Heerenduin area, an anti-tank wall and a concrete cantilever block were constructed and on the IJmuiderslag the Marine Seeziel Batterie Heerenduin - a battery with fire control post and flanking artillery bunkers - the Marine Flak Batterie Olmen (anti-aircraft battery) and further anti-tank walls and Hocker obstacles (rows of concrete dragon's teeth). At the Haringhaven, a large Schnellbootbunker (1943), built for the Kriegsmarine, remains with fourteen covered berths and four covered repair docks. This complex is used as a sand-lime brick factory and distribution center.
