Pegida staat voor "Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes" in het Duits, wat in het Engels "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West" betekent. Het is een anti-islamitische en anti-immigratiebeweging die in 2014 in Duitsland is opgericht.
De groep heeft sinds haar oprichting controverses en kritiek aangetrokken vanwege haar standpunten en protestacties.
