Zuiderwoude (Waterland municipality)
Village, originated as peat reclamation from a creek bridge of the tidal channel Zwet. At the end of the 12th century there was a tuff stone church here. A ribbon development formed on the Dorpsstraat along the Zwet. The village suffered from a village fire (1712) and floods (1825 and 1916). Zuiderwoude is a protected village.
