Wijdenes (municipality of Drechterland)
Village, originated in the 12th century as peat reclamation. Near the current southern tip of the north-south-facing reclamation axis (Zuideruitweg), a fortress erected in 1282, which was demolished in 1296. A building concentration formed at the Kerkbuurt. After World War II, a small residential area was created there.
