The monument in Wieringerwerf
'De Wielen' (at Noorderdijkweg 23a), established in 1946 northeast of Wieringerwerf, marks the spot where the Germans blew up the ring dike on 17 April 1945. The subsequent inundation destroyed eighty percent of the buildings in the polder.
