't Zand (municipality of Zijpe)
Village, originated in the 17th century in the northern part of the Zijpe and Hazepolder (1596-'97). The construction of the Noordhollands Kanaal (1821-'24) caused some growth of this predominantly Catholic village. After the Second World War, 't Zand was somewhat expanded on the east side.
