Spanbroek (municipality of Opmeer)
Village, originated in the Middle Ages as peat reclamation. In 1414 Spanbroek received city rights, but these were purely administrative in nature. A two-sided ribbon development formed and in the 19th century buildings followed on two right-angled roads leading to Opmeer, to which it grew after the Second World War.
