Nes aan de Amstel (municipality of Amstelveen)
Village, probably in the 12th century originated on a headland on the east bank of the Amstel. This spit later became an island and then silted up on the west bank. Offices were established along the Amstel. A small village center formed at the church. On the south side of the village around 1970 somewhat expanded.
