Catlin - (George), Amerikaansch reiziger, 1796 — 1872, bezocht van 1832 af vele Indianenstammen in N.- en Z.-Amerika en ging 1840 naar Europa. Hij schreef: Manners, customs and Condition of the North American Indians (2 dln., 1841); The Northamerican Portfolio (1844); Eight Years' Travels and Residence in Europe (1848); Life amongst the Indians (herdruk 1889); Last Rambles amongst the Indians of the Rocky Mountains and the Andes (1868).
