Baily (francis) - Eng. sterrenkundige, geb. 28 Apr. 1774 te Newbury, gest. 30 Aug. 1844 te Londen, als President der Royal Astronomical Society. B. begon zijn loopbaan als amateur. Voornaamste werk: Catalogue of stars of the British Association for the advancement of Science (Londen 1845).
