Sophia, eigenlijk: Sofia Scicolone, frans filmactrice, *20.9.1934 Rome, van Italiaanse afkomst; sinds 1966 gehuwd met Carlo Ponti. Loren werd, nadat ze op 14-jarige leeftijd een schoonheidswedstrijd gewonnen had, voor de film ontdekt door de filmproducent C.Ponti.
Sindsdien is Loren een internationaal beroemd filmactrice geworden.
