Engels theoloog en humanist, geb. 1466 of 1467 Londen, overl. 16.9.1519 Londen. Na zijn studies te Oxford, Parijs en in Italië doceerde Colet te Oxford (1496-1504/5).
Als deken van Saint Paul’s te Londen (1505-19) stichtte hij daar een beroemd geworden humanistische school. Colet was voorstander van kerkhervorming en vriend van Erasmus en Thomas More.
