1° John Lancaster (pseud. Henry Hamilton), Amer. bisschop, redenaar, schrijver, dichter, staatsman, paedagoog. * 2 Juni 1848 in den staat Kentucky, ✝ 25 Aug. 1916.

2° Martin John, een der meest vooraanstaande kerkvoogden van de Kerk in Amerika in de 19e e. * 23 Mei 1810 te Bardstone (Kentucky), ✝ 7 Febr. 1872 te Baltimore. 1850 bisschop van Louisville, 1864 aartsb. van Baltimore. Als priester werkzaam in de zielzorg en in de pers (stichter van The Catholic Guardian, redacteur van The Catholic Advocate). Op een reis naar Europa was hij de voornaamste bewerker van de stichting van het Amer. college te Leuven. Als aartsb. leidde hij het 2e concilie van → Baltimore (1866), was aanwezig op het Vaticaansche Concilie (1870) en schreef vsch. historische en apologetische werken.
